the spanish for healthcare professionals undergraduate certificate addresses the growing need for bilingual competency with quality language instruction, and enhanced cultural awareness specific to the unique working environment of healthcare. graduates will have the ability to assist in meeting the need for bilingual spanish healthcare professionals.
curriculum and duration
successful completion of the certificate requires 15 credits.

given the nature of language courses, with each successive course building on what is learned in prior courses, students will take the five required courses in the order presented above, taking only one course at a time (i.e., one course per semester).
the course sequence begins with sp 201, intermediate spanish, which assumes one year of college spanish or its equivalent. placement in sp 201 is determined according to how much high school spanish you’ve taken, or your score on a placement test.
you should begin the certificate program no later than the second semester of your second year at usciences. sp 201 is usually offered in the fall semester.
